Reception/Jam Session

The Dillard Center For The Arts Foundation will honor the legendary Director of Jazz Studies for Dillard Center For The Arts, Mr. Christopher Dorsey on Saturday May 7th and Sunday May 8th, 2022.   The weekend events will pay tribute to Mr. Dorsey’s immeasurable contribution to professional music education over the last 36 years and commemorate his retirement. The reception celebration will include a silent auction, cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and a “jam session” open to former members of Mr. Dorsey’s musical ensembles throughout his career. The reception/jam session celebration will take place at Art Serve in Fort Lauderdale.  A portion of the proceeds from this event will directly benefit the inaugural Christopher Dorsey Scholarship Fund.

Sweet Dillard Jazz – The Finale

Enjoy the music of the award winning, nationally renowned DCA Jazz Ensemble as they take the stage for the last time under the direction of the legendary Christopher Dorsey. Special guest artist for the evening will be the incomparable Emmet Cohen Trio.  

Sweet Dillard Jazz has been an annual tradition for the DCA Jazz Ensemble since 2010. Treat yourself to the sweet sounds of big band jazz as well as the ever so popular complimentary dessert buffet which is offered during intermission. Your ticket also includes a commemorative souvenir program book as well as an entry ticket for our 2022-2023 season pass giveaway.

At the end of the registration process, you will be given an opportunity to donate to the “Christopher Dorsey Scholarship Fund”. About The Chris Dorsey Scholarship Fund

The DART Foundation is honoring Mr. Dorsey by creating the Christopher Dorsey Scholarship Fund. The Board of Directors, donors, and individual friends and family have established and supported this fund to recognize Mr. Dorsey’s leadership, influence and impact on the thousands of students he has taught throughout his illustrious career. The fund will support two new initiatives – scholarship funding for Dillard Center For The Arts graduates that wish to attend a university or conservatory to study jazz music, and to provide assistance for students to attend jazz music camps during the time they are enrolled at Dillard Center For The Arts.
